About the tutor
Kay Andrews is a former Stories in Stone Rural Trainee. She is now working across the Yorkshire Dales running the Limestone Lepidoptera Project for Butterfly conservation.
Kays project aims to increase awareness as well as surveying and monitoring target species with the help of volunteers. The results of this work will be used to create distribution maps across the Yorkshire Dales and highlight areas of important habitat for these species. Kay will also be working with land managers to enhance habitat quality.

"During my traineeship with YDMT and Natural England I regularly carried out butterfly and moth survey and monitoring work. I became more and more captivated by Lepidpotera, and continue to learn more about these incredible species every day. Part 1 - Introduction to butterflies and moths
This is the first of three online sessions on butterflies and moths of the Yorkshire Dales. The series will look at why they are important, ways to record sightings and how to get involved with regional recording.
This session focuses on introducing Lepidoptera of the Yorkshire Dales, their habits, lifecycle, why they are important and what you can do to help.

Part 2 - Butterflies of the Yorkshire Dales
This is the second of three online sessions on butterflies and moths of the Yorkshire Dales. The series will look at why they are important, ways to record sightings and how to get involved with regional recording.
This session focuses on identifying butterflies found in the Yorkshire Dales and method used to record butterflies.
